how to configure Engenius eoc2611P/EOC1650 as point to point or point to multipoint bridge
Point to
Point or Point to Multi-Point:
Using the EnGenius 2611P/1650 series you can create a wireless link between two
buildings or multiple buildings. Below describes a building to building
connection. To add more than two buildings you will need to add more client
bridge units. Settings will be dependent on your network infrastructure. Please
read the full document to have complete understanding of the setup.
1st UNIT:
1. Change mode to Access Point Mode, under system, system properties
apply
2. Set static IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, under system, IP
Settings then IP addresses depend on your local area network. Normally this
information can be found by accessing your router (Gateway). Choose a
static IP that is outside the DHCP range on your network and not being used by
another device, use ping to check.
3. Set SSID desired Channel under Wireless, wireless network SSID is
determined by the admin. EnGenius recommends using channels 1, 6 or 11.
4. Set output power to 28dBm for maximum range under wireless, wireless
advanced
5. Security can be set under Wireless, wireless security. (test without
security first)
2nd UNIT: E
1. Keep mode in Client Bridge Mode
2. Set static IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, under system, IP
Settings3. Set output power to 28dBm for maximum range under
wireless, wireless advanced
4. Set SSID to the same settings as the 1st unit (AP) under
Wireless, wireless network. use site survey utility to find AP then click
on MAC address in the survey tool. check box perfer BSSID on bridge.
5. if security is enable on the AP the bridge will ask for the
key
For point to multipoint use a omni directional antenna on the AP then add
additional eoc-2611P bridge units configured as above.
For point to multipoint links up to 3 miles use a eoc-2611P at the central location with 8.5dBi omni directional antenna and SMA pigtail connector
For the remote locations just add another eoc-2611P unit
