Solar powered Wi-Fi access point

Solar powered Wi-Fi access point

We have been experimenting with a solar powered access
point using a low cost 12v 3W panel.

The panel produces more than enough power during daylight
hours to run a

Engenius 2611 cb3
without the addition of any extra circuitry or battery
packs.

With the addition of a small lead acid battery pack it
could run the AP at night and on overcast days.

What could this be used for?  How about a solar
powered repeater mounted in a remote sunny location.
