Multiple SSID and VLAN tagging:  Allows support multiple of application on one access point like guest Internet access and private network.  You could set up separate networks for voice or video.  Multiple providers could share one access point in a public area such as airports.  Fewer access points are required for multiple services conserving channels and lowering chance of interference. 

Built in smart antenna:  Sends the signal where you need it.  The antenna pattern sends the signal around and below the access point.  A traditional omni directional antenna will send the signal in all directions including the floor above causing interference with other access points.  Click here for PDF on antenna pattern.

High power and receive sensitivity:  Provide many times the range of traditional access points.   The 600mW of power means fewer access points will be required combined with the 4dBi antenna this gives you 1500mW EIRP.  The high receive sensitivity of -97dBm means that the access points will "hear" distant signals from users at greater distance.  Together these features make the access point idea for tough environments like concrete buildings. 

Power over ethernet ( 802.3af):  The access point can get power and data over the same ethernet cable.   Reduces cost of installation and  allows for flexible location.
