Review:
We did a quick head to head review of the 2511-CF and a linksys WCF12 the results were impressive. First off both cards use the same driver slightly modified so the card is very easy to set up and store profiles in infrastructure or ad-hoc mode with or without wep. We tested both cards indoors connecting to a lucent 32mW ap-500. Here are the results.
2511-CF
Distance 50 feet
Signal Strength 100%
Link Quality 100%
WCF12
Distance 50 feet
Signal Strength 93%
Link Quality 93%
2511-CF
Distance 70 feet
Signal Strength 80%
Link Quality 80%
WCF12
Distance 70 feet
Signal Strength 66%
Link Quality 66%
The 2511-CF also works with the popular pocketwarrior wi-fi surveying tool for wireless networks. Also of note this is the same card that Airmagnet ships with their surveying product.
The 2511-cf card is slightly shorter than the wcf12 and has one led that blinks when scanning and lights solid when connected.
In closing this is the ultimate CF 802.11 card on the market today. It has excellent receive sensitivity long range and low power consumption. We all know you get what you pay for in wireless network adapters but in this case the 2511-cf is a quality product at a very reasonable price.
